Other Details to Note

🚗Winter Access (Oct-Apr): 4WD/AWD Vehicle REQUIRED. Our road is plowed but snowy. No tire chains needed—standard 4WD/AWD rentals from Fairbanks Airport (FAI) handle the drive easily, even without snow experience. 🌌Aurora Viewing Because the aurora is a natural phenomenon, we highly recommend checking a forecast app during your stay. When activity is intense, our iconic west-facing round window captures overhead storms from the warmth of indoors. However, for milder bands on the Northern horizon, plan to step outside on the deck for the best views.

I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. It is just like the pictures and has everything you need. The huge window upstairs was great for viewing the Northern Lights. We saw them every night we were here, including the biggest solar storm since 2003. Highly recommend this place.

Our family of four spent a week here in late December and had an incredible time - the house was perfect for us! We saw northern lights at night through the big round window, we had plenty of space to stretch out and play with toys or read books, we went sledding in the driveway, we had a very short drive to the reindeer ranch, we thawed out each day in the sauna, and most importantly the house kept us warm night and day (heat worked great, esp in the bedrooms)! If you travel with small kids, be aware that the stairs are steep going up to the upper level of the house. We recommend bringing slippers or socks with grippy spots on the bottom to avoid kids slipping. If (when!) we return to Fairbanks, we’d definitely stay here again!

We had a nice stay and Yang and Amy (the local host) were both very responsive and kind! Any time I had a question, they responded within minutes. Our primary goal was to see the Aurora. The large circular window faces west. There is also a small window in the office that faces north so we could see the Aurora developing. We got to see some aurora out the circular window! It was lovely look out the window rather than having to go outside in -40° weather every time! There are a lot of trees to the north, so it would be difficult to see an Aurora that was only on the horizon, but once the Aurora reaches higher in the sky it should be visible from one if not multiple windows! I accidentally broke the knob on one of the pot lids and Yang was so kind and turned down my offer to reimburse him! The kitchen is well stocked. Thank you, Yang & Amy, for a lovely stay and for being so good with communication! They both clearly care about their guests having a positive experience. :)

The house is very beautiful and provides some essential amenities. The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with, and it's a great place to watch the Northern Lights at night – you can even see them from inside the house if you don't want to venture out.
